| Day-7 | If we were having coffee #writebravely | WriteTribe – Festival of Words 2017 |

Hola folks! It’s that time of the month again when we catch up over a cup of our favourite brews; mine isnt coffee but tea! It’s already August, the 8th month of the year and time seems to be flying with jet spurred wings. I have had quite a busy and eventful year so far; some ill-health too which kept me away from blogging for a while. Come on in and plonk yourself in a comfy armchair while I regale you with my antics.

If we were having coffee,

I would begin by telling you about the fruitful strides I have made as a Green Warrior by organising a dry waste segregation drive in my colony. We collected about 15 kg of waste which was handed over to an NGO who is into responsible recycle/upcycle of waste items. I also finally bought my own home composter to turn all Β my wet waste into organic manure. A big YAY!!!!

If we were having coffee,

I would tell you that by now my office cum study is all set up and this post is being typed at my new desk (new as in it came with this house I am renting at present). I have been unwrapping things and discovering odds and ends to be kept on my desk. And yes I painted it a bright red – I feel it’s the colour of creativity.

If we were having coffee,

I would tell you that the raingods have been very kind to us this year. Yesterday they seemed to be pouring their heart out with continuous showers. I could see a flurry on status updates on FB, each wondering if Gurgaon will drown today. (Yeah that happens a lot during rains cause of serious water logging across the city). Thanks to the rains, the temperatures have been hovering near cool while a lushly hush has descended on the greenery which seems to be sprouting from every crack and crevice.

If we were having coffee,

I would tell you that finally the Gulmohar’s vibrant hues are over while the frangipani blooms have taken centre stage, their exotic fragrance wafting a sensual delight to my senses.

If we were having coffee,

I would tell you that I have finally let the cat out of the bag πŸ˜‰ i.e. I have setup my art project back on the table (had started it in september 2015). There is an epic amount of work left in this, but I am pushing to be done with it before the year ends. Meow!!!!

I am no celeb yaar – come on stop puling my leg. My blogging journey is as eventful and stumbling as anyone else’s. I am still learning stuff and am so bad at the tech stuff. I still have to take a backup and move my blog!!! Getting jitters over it!!! Yeah I really curse You know who over this πŸ™‚

  2. Hey loved this cup of coffee. You are the fourth blogger who prefers tea but I don’t mind. I am following your advice and look forward to more of your tips. The red looks great as does your office and I’m sure you’ll finish your art project. Look forward to our online chats and coffee mornings

    1. I love filter coffee and the reaosn I avoid coffee is that it doesnt agree with me πŸ™ SO yes I have become a tea-o-holic. I am putting up something zany about tea tomorrow on my blog; do stay tuned…..
      Finished artwork – hopefully soon!!!

Enjoyed reading your posts this week, and also your comments at my little blog space. πŸ˜€ Glad to have had you as part of my smaller tribe.

    1. Thanks so much Vinay for that. Yeah I try to stay as busy as possible but its not always so so busy!!I enjoyed out interaction too in this blog fest and hope to continue forth!!! πŸ™‚

    1. This is called mosaic. Basically cutting glass tiles and shaping them to stick to a pattern in varied colours. I started it too ambitiously and this thing is just huge!!! Thats why I lost interest midway – damn my short attn span!! πŸ˜‰

  5. Congratulations for the house. The pictures shot are so beautiful and feels good to live in such a serene environment. Your office is done in such an aesthetic manner that makes it a joy to sit and work. Beautiful art work and would love to see the completion.

    1. Thanks Vishal. I will definitely share a completed pic of this very soon!!Yes my office is my haven and I love being in it!!

  6. You are involved in so many awesome projects. Really admire your efforts in The collection drive. You office looks so lovely… A haven for all the creative people. I would love to see more of that cat project. What is it made of?

    1. That project is actually a folding tray being turned into a mosaic art by me. Those are tiny bits of glass tile which are cut, shaped into a shape and then stuck onto the design. I have a long way to go as yes I have to cover the whole thing…….

  7. My, my what a lot you’ve been upto! Kudos on the great waste management. Love red and your work station. And who doesnt love the cooling rains? There’s been a lull in Mumbai rains and it is unbearably hot! Your artwork is to die for! Cheers gal!

    1. Thanks Kala, but I think only sounds so busy in the post! Its actually not so πŸ˜‰ I take long breaks too. Case in point is that artwork which has been…………………………
I have loved being part of this festival with you;; its so awesome to be connected with so many like minded bloggers. I am going to keep this thread open and running as I want to stay connected for long!!
Cheers to your writing Kala and congrats for the Blog adda pick!!! πŸ™‚

  8. The first thing that struck me in the photo of your work desk was the bright red wall. The small cushion on the sides below the window, they are too cute. (They are cushions right?) You have been doing an admirable job with conducting a drive for dry waste segregation and having your own composting bin at home. That incomplete art project looks intricate. I can see why it must have been taking you so long to work upon it. Nevertheless, it looks wonderful in tits present state. If you would not have mentioned the word incomplete, I would have considered it finished and perfect.

    1. Oh wow!! This feels too good to hear. Let me take a moment to savour it please πŸ™‚
      Yup those are cushions….
In india we are still miles away from proper garbage disposal and our landfills are a cause of huge concern. I am hoping to make a little difference if I can.
As for the artwork – oh my god…… Its taken forever and I hope to finish it soon!! I have very short attn span and now seeing it in this state is annoying me πŸ˜‰

    1. Menaka you are so generous with your compliments. Thank you for always being so supportive and boosting morale. I am glad you love my desk – its my haven to be in!!!

  9. Loved the wrap up post Shalz , your new workplace is fab and so is the bright red color. Good luck with your art work. Glad to have forged these bonds with you through blogging

    1. Thank you so much for the warm words Aks. I hope to keep this thread alive over time and perhaps meet in real too! Cheers and dont be a stranger; keep coming over!! πŸ™‚

  10. That’s a lot of stuff you’ve been up to. Love your new workspace and the colour of the wall! And kudos on waste management πŸ™‚ All I do is separate the recycling and the rubbish as we have separate bins for those and w also have a green bin for garden stuff. The artwork looks really cool…and cats! Always love cats! Can’t wait to see it when it’s finished.

    1. The cat is inspired from all the cat pics I keep seeing on the blogs of my friends πŸ˜‰ Its a folding tray table and I am looking to make it a piece of mosaic art – hopefully this year it finishes through!! I have been very lazy with it!
You a re lucky yur municipal takes care of the garbage – in India its such a struggle still. Hopefully we will streamline things soon here.
Thank you for all the support in this festival of words. I would actualy like to get to know you a bit better; do connect on DM someday pls!!!Cheers

  11. Meow! I would love to meet you sometime, Shalini πŸ™‚ And sure, you will definitely finish your art project soon. I love your work space and for being the Green Warrior! More power to you.

    1. Soonest my dear girl – now you are much closer to Delhi!! We shal do so soon!
Thank you for your kind words as always! πŸ™‚ Happy weekend!

  12. I don’t have one artsy craftsy bone in my body, but your art project does look like fun. I am sure you will get it done. And I would love to see the finished product.

Oh and I adore your work space. Mine is my bed/couch, whichever is free. I do have a dedicated work table set up, but I never use it, cause it’s not nearly as pretty as yours. Maybe I should work towards making it look pretty, then possibly I would use it more.

    1. Since moving into this house, I was blessed that the owner had made a study to suit her. Now its mine till I am here and so I have done the honours of decking it out. Normally its a bed or sofa for me too!! πŸ˜‰
Yeah a pretty work table does inspire – I am yet to put up all the prints I have on the walls to make this room cozier!! If you do get to decorate your workplace, do share some pics pls Shantala!! πŸ™‚

  13. What a newsy post. Glad to hear Gurgaon is cooling down. The rains have been good here too this year. Loved your work desk and the cat is so very cute. Good luck with it.

  14. So bright and cherry that red looks! Perfect for you.

Yay on the dry waste drive and the home composting. Kudos.

Hope you enjoyed your blogging marathon. πŸ™‚

    1. Thanks mahak. These are glass tiles which are cut intonshape n then pasted and ater its all completely grputed. Yes i hope to show a completed pic soon.

  15. Loved the post… Tea/coffee with you is always fun i love the red and your happy workspace. The cat project looks interesting.. What are you doing? Yes, if you want to have morning tea on 1st January with this cat, it will be completed πŸ™‚ looking forward to the tea post next πŸ™‚

    1. Thanks so much Ish – let me get the blue tea and we will sit with a hot cup each in this study on mine. You can sit by the window and chat while I work on the mosaic and we listen to some awesome music.

        1. Slow and steady; still inching with it; 2 hours a week type of time being given to it but not very consistent with it!! But it will be over by this dec for sure!!!:-)

  16. I loved having coffee with you today virtually as well as in person last month, Shalini. Kudos to you for the waste management drive. I love your work station so vibrant and so cool. And the cat artwork is wow… it’s mosaic na! My sister recently learnt this too and has created some amazing artworks!

    1. That coffee tasted good thanks to your superb banana bread Shilpz; I need the recipe as I have 2 overripe bananas in the fridge πŸ˜‰
Yup its mosaic and I love it too. Just need to set a routine for it now. Thank you for the praise; trying to do some good. Trash is the “in” thing with me these days πŸ™‚
